We are currently recruiting for the position of Port Equipment Supervisor in the Maritime Division. Under general direction, the incumbent will direct, coordinate and supervise the work of the Port’s equipment garages, requiring application of broad mechanical and industry expertise and possession of extensive knowledge of the work of a repair facility. The successful candidate is expected to solve difficult problems independent of technical supervision.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education: Graduation from high school, or its equivalent, and completion of the equivalent of 30 hours
at the junior college level in management, leadership and supervision.
Experience: Five years of work experience as a journey mechanic, including one year of experience with heavy equipment or equivalent, and five years of supervisory experience.
Licenses: Must possess a valid California Class ‘A’ driver’s license at the time of appointment and maintain for the duration of employment. Must participate in the mandatory D.O.T. drug and alcohol testing program pursuant to the Code of Federal Regulations, Title 49 (49 CFR), Parts 40 and 382 effective January 1, 1996, and the Port of Oakland’s policy #AP304.
Additional Requirements: Must be available for on-call duty as required by emergency situations or as required for uninterrupted operations in accordance with and adherence to Port emergency protocols. This is a “First Responder” position pursuant to Port Policy AP-109. Throughout the duration of the appointment, incumbent must live within a 30-mile radius of the workplace within Alameda or Contra Costa Counties and must be able to reasonably respond to the worksite within 30 minutes. Or already a current first responder. If selected, you must meet this requirement.
